Cedric and the Revolution
I’ve recently found out this little gem among adventure games: Cedric and the Revolution is an old-style freeware game developed in 2005 by Bernhard, a 25-year-old “hobby game developer” (as he calls himself on his website, origamihero.com).
A part from bringing back sweet memories about dos-era adventure games (do you remember Monkey Island, Beneath a Steel Sky, Universe, The Dig, ..!) it confirms that it’s not necessary to spend huge amounts of money and make use of the latest graphic frills to be able to put together a very good game.
Smart ideas and passion would be enough.
P.S. also Darwinia is a good example of this philosophy for games.
